I personally don’t know what HP’s deal, but every now and then I will utter the phrase: don’t ever buy an HP laptop – this is all we ever fix, to my clients or friends that ask me the question.
It is in fact the biggest supply of computer repair (in my experience) and until it changes I will not speak otherwise.
Most of the time it is motherboard problem without even testing. sometimes it is something minor, but mostly not.
So how do you perform HP computer repair in this scenario?
Your hp laptop will not power on. therefore correct steps of troubleshooting would be as follows:
1. Test your power supply. all the way from the outlet in the wall to power adapter to computer itself.
2. Test the power adapter input jack and see if its not broken.
3. take out battery and see if it works without it.
4. perform a hard reset on the laptop: Unplug power adapter. Take out battery. Hp laptop unconnected from any power supply press power button on laptop, hold it in and hold it for 1 minute. what it does it drains all the power that is still stored in condensers and other chips and basically drains it all completely.
5. important! Connect only power adapter from the wall to the computer. Do not put battery in.
6. try to power laptop on now. if it works it works. if not read further.
Due to laptops being so compact they are much more difficult to diagnose and sometimes anything can go bad and it will mess up the whole system.
so next step is to physically disconnect some of the parts and see if laptop will turn on.
7. Take out RAM memory, take out hard drive, take out, wi-fi chip, dvd-rom, etc. Basically anything you can disconnect without going to deep into laptop. As you disconnect, then try to power it on .
